 어컴퍼니는 디지털 아트의 선구자적 역할을 해온  [베라 몰나  Vera Molnar]의 개인전을 7월 12일부터 9월 14일까지 진행한다.

 베라 몰나는 1924년 헝가리 부다페스트에서 태어나 1947년부터 프랑스 파리에 머물며 작업을 해 왔다. 

 

 베라 몰나는 1960년대 후반부터 알고리즘과 코딩을 통해 끊임없이 생성되며 변형되어 만들어지는 '제너레이티브 아트 Generative art'를 선보이며, 컴퓨터를 사용한 프랑스 최초의 예술가가라는 타이틀과 함께 '컴퓨터 아트'와 '디지털 아트'의 선구자적 역할을 해 왔다. 

 1968년, 파리 소르본느 대학의 연구실에서 접한 초기 프로그래밍 '포트란 Fortran'을 독학한 뒤, 무한 변형 알고리즘의 매력에 빠졌다. 컴퓨터 언어의 기반인 0과 1 이진법의 언어로 명령어를 입력하여 프로그래밍한 뒤, 플로터 프린터를 이용하여 디지털 드로잉 작업을 해나갔다. ​

​ 전 세계 유수의 뮤지엄과 갤러리에 초대되며, 2022년 베니스 비엔날레에 작품을 출품하는 등 왕성한 활동을 이어오다, 100세를 한 달 앞둔 지난 2023년 12월 7일에 파리에서 세상을 떠났다.

 현재, 프랑스 파리 퐁피두 센터에 작품이 대거 소장되며, 퐁피두 센터에서의 개인전이 올해 8월 26일까지 진행 중이다. 

 

 이번 전시는 베라 몰나의 아시아 첫 개인전으로, 그의 대표작인 1970년대 플로토 드로잉뿐 아니라 1950년대 후반 연필 드로잉과 2000년대 페인팅 등이  Part 1과 Part 2로 나누어 선보인다.

 ​Accompany is pleased to present the solo exhibition of [Vera Molnar], who is a pioneer in digital art, from July 12th to September 14th.

​​

Vera Molnar was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1924. She had been living and working in Paris, France since 1947.

 

Since the late 1960s, Vera Molnar had been presenting ‘Generative art’, which is constantly created and transformed through algorithms and coding. With the title of the first French artist to use computers, Vera Molnar had played a pioneering role in 'Computer art' and 'Digital art'.

In 1968, after teaching herself 'Fortran', an early programming experience she encountered in her laboratory at the Sorbonne University in Paris, she fell in love with the infinite transformation algorithm. After programming by entering commands in the binary 0 and 1 language, which is the basis of computer language, she used a plotter printer to create digital drawings. ​

She was invited to major museums and galleries around the world, and she continued to be active, including exhibiting her works at the 2022 Venice Biennale. She passed away in Paris on December 7, one month before her 100th birthday.

Currently, A lot of her works are collected at the Center Pompidou in Paris, France, and her solo exhibition at the Center Pompidou is running until August 26th of this year.

 

This exhibition at accompany is Vera Molnar's first solo exhibition in Asia. And her representative works, including Plotter drawings from the 1970s, as well as pencil drawings from the late 1950s and paintings from the 2000s, are presented in Part 1 and Part 2.
